Energy

FODCAP supports those working to address fuel poverty and create warmer homes through retrofitting and the development of local renewable energy generation to create clean, green power for the future. Across the Forest of Dean, high energy prices and drafty buildings are crippling residents, businesses and community groups.

But through collaboration, innovation, and community action, we can build a more sustainable, resilient future - one where everyone has access to affordable warmth and locally sourced energy.

Are you a local small business, community group, school, or church that is interested in getting solar panels on your roof, but are not sure where to start. Take a look at FODCAP’s Forest of Dean Solar PV guide! Click on the image above.

Do you need support to help retrofit your home, business, or community building? If so, take a look at our retrofit resources page for an overview of retrofit work taking place across the Forest of Dean, and to find resources and support.

Forest Community Energy

Forest Community Energy is a group of local people supporting the Forest of Dean on its journey to Net Zero. This includes getting more community solar onto roofs of local community buildings and running other energy-related projects. Click here to find out more.

Renewable Energy Generation & Energy Planning

  • Local Area Energy Planning

Local Area Energy Plans (LAEP) help create a local energy system to deliver Net-Zero targets. LAEPs are led by local government in collaboration with relevant local stakeholders.

The results are a fully costed, spatial plan outlining changes needed to the local energy system and built environment, including  ‘what, where, and when, and by whom’. The Forest of Dean is working with partners across Gloucestershire to develop a local LAEP.

  • Future Energy Landscapes

Future Energy Landscapes (FEL) supports five local parishes across the Forest of Dean to think through their local renewable energy needs and where they would like to see local renewable energy generation in the future.

FEL puts communities in the driving seat of local energy planning – because the greatest solutions come from the people who know their area best.

Working Together on Energy

FODCAP supports different people, groups, and stakeholders across the Forest of Dean to keep energy work linked up and information flowing well. This has included supporting a ‘Climathon’ process which brought together many stakeholders with an interest in energy across the Forest of Dean to come together to plan potential solutions for the future.
